Leeds United fans have been discussing Tyler Roberts following comments that have emerged from former player Paul Robinson.

The 22-year-old Welshman has struggled in front of goal in recent seasons, having only been able to bag one in all competitions last year and failing to find the net so far during this campaign.

And speaking in an interview with MOT Leeds News, former goalkeeper Robinson felt that some of it might come down to his lack of opportunities to get into the first team:

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

“I don’t think he gets the opportunities.

“He’s a bit-part player, which is the role he’s going to have to accept if everybody can play. But when he does play, he has to make an impact and to his detriment at times, he’s got to make an impact off the bench.

“If everybody’s fit, he doesn’t play and he’s got to work very hard to work his way into the team… It’s just whether he’s happy with the role he’s given because he isn’t a regular starter.”

These comments were then relayed to fans via the Leeds Insider Facebook page asking the question what the club should do with him, sell, loan or keep, and it generated some interesting responses:

As mentioned earlier, his numbers certainly don’t lend themselves to the idea of letting him stick around, so unless he can get them up and prove himself useful to the team, then it might be worth Leeds exploring the option of letting him go, something that could have happened this past January when Derby County were reportedly showing an interest.
