Former Leeds United player David Norris thinks it’s a shame that we haven’t seen more of Rodrigo as a centre forward but admits it’s difficult to dislodge Patrick Bamford from that position.

Leeds signed Rodrigo from Valencia for £26million according to BBC Sport back in August 2020, with the forward scoring nine goals and providing three assists in all competitions in his first season with the Whites.

In the two Premier League matches prior to the international break against West Ham, Watford and the one upon club football’s return against Southampton, Rodrigo started as a centre-forward for Leeds, but Norris believes it’s a shame we haven’t seen him play there more.

“It’s a shame we haven’t been able to see more of him there but obviously it’s going to be very hard to dislodge Bamford but yeah, if Bamford’s not in I quite like him,” Norris told This is Futbol.

It was particularly difficult to leave Bamford out of the side last season as the 28-year-old was in terrific form for the Whites, scoring 17 Premier League goals which was the joint fourth highest and he registered eight assists in the league also.

Leeds will be hoping that Rodrigo, Bamford and the other attackers that they have at their disposal, can find the form of last season and help propel them up the Premier League table this campaign.
