Former Leeds United midfielder David Norris believes that only Manchester City or Liverpool could tempt Kalvin Phillips away from Elland Road right now.

The 25-year-old is on Manchester City’s radar according to Fichajes (via caughtoffside). Meanwhile, Liverpool are thought to interested in a trio of Leeds players, with England International Phillips on that list alongside Raphinha and Illan Meslier according to Football Insider.

Do you think Kalvin Phillips will still be a Leeds United player at the start of next season?

No

Norris believes that it is only Manchester City and Liverpool currently who could tempt Phillips with a move away from Elland Road, telling This is Futbol: “I think it can only be Man City or Liverpool. I think the other ones (Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs) aren’t doing enough consistently. You probably don’t know where they’re going to potentially finish, so you know as much as Leeds aren’t doing great at the minute, it’s not a huge step up. It could be a little bit more of a sidestep.

“So, I think consistently with the way Liverpool and City have been, clearly two of the top teams in the world, I think from the Premier League I could only see it being one of those two to be honest.”

Whilst there is reported interest in Phillips, 90min reported at the end of September that Leeds were preparing to offer him an improved deal to stay at Elland Road for the long-term.

Phillips has made over 200 appearances for Leeds and offers the club plenty of versatility, as he can play as defensive midfielder, central midfielder and has also featured on a number of occasions as a centre-back and also played right midfield.
