Former Leeds United midfielder David Norris believes that Tyler Roberts has the potential to be a top player. 

The 22-year-old put pen to paper on a new three-year contract at Elland Road earlier this year which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2024 [BBC Sport].

Roberts, who was slated by fans for his performance against Southampton earlier this month, has played the majority of his career matches as a centre-forward but has also featured as an attacking-midfielder, right and left winger and also as a second striker, showing he has versatility to his game.

Having featured over 90 times for the Whites, ex-Leeds player Norris believes that Roberts has the potential to be a top player, telling This is Futbol: “I still think there’s a potential top player in there.”

Following Leeds’ victory against Watford earlier this month, manager Marcelo Bielsa gave his thoughts on Roberts’ key quality, telling Leeds Live“I feel that he is a player who can unbalance, and I hope he can evolve and take a leading role in our team. Today he took a step forward.”

Roberts’ performances throughout his career have caught the eye of the Wales international setup, as he has represented Wales from U15 level right the way through to senior level, winning 34 caps overall for his national side.
