Leeds United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest comments to emerge from Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa

Marcelo Bielsa made no excuse of the injury crisis that left him without the likes of Kalvin Philips, Junior Firpo, Patrick Bamford, Luke Ayling and Robin Koch through injury and Raphinha due to a Brazil appearance on Friday and 15 hours of flight, after his side’s dismal showing in a 1-0 defeat at Southampton.

Leeds mustered just one shot at goal in an appalling first half display, whereas Southampton dominated proceedings. While the second half was a somewhat tighter affair, the Saints managed to find a winner through Borja, condemning Leeds to a fourth defeat after just eight games in the league this campaign and Bielsa pulled no punches in his assessment of proceedings on the south coast.

“The defeat was fair” said Bielsa before admitting that “our game didn’t look like the one we usually play”.

Is Marcelo Bielsa to blame for Southampton defeat?

These comments then caught the attention of a lot of Leeds supporters, who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on the matter.

So, what did these Leeds fans have to say in response to Bielsa’s comments on the performance against Southampton?

“Spend all week, day and night at the training ground and whatever the problem is…fix it. We can except defeat but not a performance like that”

@BakkeNet

“We haven’t played well at all this season”

@graytelematics

“The lack of ambition in the squad right now is intense”

@Raph_LUFC

“Relegation fight now… these are the games we have to win… to be a Premiership team you need backup in the key positions… when we lost Allioski we lost more than a player , we lost a piece of the system …”

@Bobster49213538

“BIELSA OUT”

@GaryMor00380260

“We don’t have quality back up in midfield. as internationals come more frequent- Raph, Bamford, Philips… our best players will be gone or exhausted. Our lack of signings and clear out.. will hurt us”

@Templar33581209

“Makes me wonder if something is wrong behind the scenes.”

@raypetterson

“It’s Bielsa’s fault, he is just wrong with his squad depth stance. He never managed long enough to see it but now, in his fourth season in charge he finally is seeing it.”

@lajt89

“Absolutely embarrassing. We can’t keep relying on such a thin squad with the hope that the youngsters will be world beaters. Worrying how unfit we look too, the energy seems to of gone.”

@MJLUFC

“It does Phil. Sick of it to be honest. We can’t rely on bamford Phillips and raph every week some one needs to step up!!!”

@Shano1

“Bielsa out one trick pony expected alot better from that selection of players.”

@andygamingmad

“He is the worst value signing we have ever made. It’s not good at the minute is it. Bielsa’s lost the plot, key players injured or simply off form and persistently playing championship quality players in midfield.”

@marksimo67

There was little for Marcelo Bielsa to cheer in his 150th game in charge of Leeds, with the defeat now means the Yorkshire side remain 16th in the table, with just one win in their eight games so far this campaign.
