Plenty of Leeds fans have reacted with excitement after youngster Lewis Bate scored for England Under-20s in their recent friendly.

The Leeds starlet scored a goal his country had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Italy. Daniel Maldini put Italy ahead after 34 minutes of play, but Bate grabbed England’s equaliser before half time.

Marcelo Bielsa reportedly watched on from the sidelines, while other young prospects Sam Greenwood and Cody Drameh also started the match.

The official Leeds United Twitter account shared the pictures of Bate celebrating his goal and it didn’t take long before the club’s supporters were expressing their delight.

Here’s what these Leeds fans said…

“Best English midfielder ever.”

“Can’t be long now, we need his energy in the middle of the pitch.”
“Delete this before Newcastle see”
“Good for Leeds’ future.”
“He’s the goat honestly.”
“Better than Lampard.”
“First team player for sure. How’s the injury? Not too serious I hope.”

It’s clear to see just how highly these Leeds fans rate the youngster, with some suggesting he’ll soon be ready to break into the club’s first team.

Will Raphinha still be at Leeds next season?

However, the 18-year-old is still waiting for that first senior appearance, having instead played all his football at academy level since joining from Chelsea over the summer.
