Sky Sports journalist Simeon Gholam has been sharing his praise for on-loan Crystal Palace midfielder Conor Gallagher and his latest display for the Eagles in their recent 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion.

This comes after Gholam made an appearance on a recent edition of The Sky Sports Football Podcast, where he spoke about a range of topics concerning a variety of clubs across the Premier League.

Who scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Leeds United at Anfield in September?

On the subject of Palace’s 1-1 draw against Brighton at Selhurst Park on Monday night, that saw a late Neal Maupay striker snatch two points away from Patrick Vieira’s side, Gholam had this to say about Gallagher’s performance, in particular, and his time at Palace so far.

He said: “I thought he was exceptional on Monday night. I mean, if he’d gone there when [Roy] Hodgson was there, he might have been shoved out on the left and the right and made to do a lot of running and tracking back and this and that.

“But now he really is given the chance under Vieira to show what he can do, and he’s excelling in the Premier League.

“He’s one of the standout midfielders in the league this season, I’d argue.”

TIF Thoughts on Simeon Gholam’s comments on Gallagher…

Prior to joining Palace on loan, Gallagher has spent loan spells at clubs such as Charlton Athletic, Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion from his parent club Chelsea.

Since joining the Eagles, the 21-year-old, who is currently valued at £13.5 million according to Transfermarkt, has played 90 minutes in the five Premier League games he’s appeared in for Palace, scoring two goals and providing one assist in the process.

Taking into account how the Evening Standard gave Gallagher a match rating of 8/10 for his performance against Brighton saying that he “controlled the game from start to finish”, it’s easy to see why Gholam was so full of praise for him.

Moving forward, if Gallagher can continue in this vein of form for Palace through the remainder of the season, we feel that they should seriously consider trying to sign him on a permanent deal to keep him at the club for the future and see if he can improve even further.
