Express & Star journalist Luke Hatfield is not surprised by talk of Tottenham being interested in Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins.
Watkins, who scored last time out against Tottenham, has been linked with a move to the north London club.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the 25-year-old is on a list of options for Villa’s Premier League rivals as they look to bolster their attack.
Will Watkins move to Tottenham?
Watkins joined the Villans from newly-promoted Brentford last September and managed to make quite the impact in his debut season in the top flight. In 37 appearances, he scored 14 goals to help his side to an 11th-placed finish.
On Spurs’ reported interest in Watkins, Hatfield told TIF:
“The Spurs links don’t surprise me. He has been that good. He’s obviously worked his way into the England reckoning and with Harry Kane – I know he’s sticking around this season or he said at least – I imagine Spurs are probably envisaging life without him.“
Watkins could be a shrewd signing for Tottenham; he has proven himself in the Premier League and against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side after netting against them last weekend.
