Joseph Masi has been speaking on the Baggies Broadcast podcast about the injury that is pestering Alex Mowatt.

West Brom managed to bring arguably Barnsley’s two most important men to The Hawthorns over the summer, with Mowatt following Valerien Ismael, who took over from Sam Allardyce – and both of them have been relative successes.

Will West Brom win the Championship?

No!

No!

Yes!

Yes!

The midfielder is currently sitting as the club’s joint-second-top scorer, while Ismael has guided the Baggies to just one defeat in the league and second spot in the Championship.

Masi has been discussing the injury that Mowatt is still carrying after going off injured in West Brom’s last two matches.

“Once the foot wasn’t broken, then he was always likely to play [against Birmingham]. We don’t know if Alex Mowatt has had a painkiller injection on his foot, we just don’t know that. But it’s the type of thing that footballers do have on an injury like that.

“If it’s not broken, you can sort of get around it, really, but for him to come off again with it, obviously shows there is quite a lot of discomfort there. I’ve said it a million times, I think Alex Mowatt is probably Albion’s most important player, although I think Karlan Grant is starting to give him a run for his money.”

TIF Thoughts on Mowatt…

Ismael appeared to have struck up an ideal midfield partnership straight away, with Mowatt and Jake Livermore starting every single league game thus far – and considering that the Baggies have won once and lost once when Mowatt has gone off injured, Ismael will be hoping his injury is not too serious.

An easy one to kick off our quiz on the 2020 summer transfer window in the EFL, which player left Birmingham City to join Borussia Dortmund?

The Frenchman may well get that wish of his star midfielder being back soon, as he’s confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Mowatt is ‘touch and go‘ in terms of potentially featuring this week for the Baggies when they face Swansea City on Wednesday.
