Express & Star journalist Luke Hatfield would love to see West Bromwich Albion midfielder Alex Mowatt play in the Premier League and believes he deserves an opportunity.

The 26-year-old put pen to paper on a three-year deal at the Hawthorns in the summer, following manager Valerien Ismael in joining West Brom from Barnsley [BBC Sport].

Since making the move, Mowatt has started and played in all eleven of the Baggies’ Championship fixtures where he has scored three goals and registered one assist.

Hatfield would love to see Mowatt play in the Premier League, telling This is Futbol: “I imagine he’ll be a big part of the furniture at the Hawthorns for the rest of this season and obviously next season if they go up as well.

“I’d love to see him in the Premier League as well, just because he’s the type of player I think deserves it because he’s not the most outspoken player, but he does all his talking on the pitch and it’s great to see.”

Albion have made a terrific start to life back in the Championship, as after eleven matches they currently sit second in the league table, three points behind leaders AFC Bournemouth.

Scoring 20 goals and conceding just six, West Brom have accumulated 22 points after winning six, drawing four and losing just one match, which came in the club’s last game prior to the international break against Stoke City.
