Derby County fans have been reacting to photos that have emerged of young Jack Stretton following his performance at the weekend.
Given the circumstances that the Rams faced this summer when it came to player recruitment and putting a team together, it’s no surprise that Wayne Rooney’s men have been forced to dig deep to try and find players in order to field a starting eleven.
As a result, the Derby County boss has often had to field young players in order to make up the numbers, and one such player has been the aforementioned Stretton. The 20-year-old has made a number of appearances before, but this weekend saw him make his first league start for the Rams as he played 64 minutes against Swansea City before being substituted.
The club celebrated his achievement by posting this tweet for fans to react to, and there were plenty on hand to join in the good feeling with many tipping him for a bright future at the club:
“He’s not ready, chasing shadows and needs more strength. Couple of years he could be a player.”
Can Derby beat the drop?
Yes
No
Having made the breakthrough of giving him his first league start, it will be interesting to see what Rooney has in store for him next in the young man’s career.
