According to The Times, Spurs were looking for an offer in the region of £40m for the services of Harry Winks during this summer’s transfer window.
Should Spurs cut their losses with Winks?
The report suggests Daniel Levy’s high asking price put both Aston Villa and Everton off potentially signing the 25-year-old midfielder.
Winks made his first start of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign on the weekend in their 3-0 defeat away to Crystal Palace but was subbed off after an hour (via Transfermarkt).
Tottenham fans flooded to the tweet from The Spurs Web to share their thoughts at their club reportedly holding out for £40m for the midfielder who has only played 61 minutes in this Premier League season.
What exactly did these Spurs fans have to say?
“Why would anyone part with 40m for Harry Winks totally and utterly delusional”
“There lies the problem, Levys ego over valuing and retaining players even tho they add nothing to the squad. The very same reason that city and Chelsea are so successful as they are ruthless snd don’t stand for mediocrity”
Winks has been linked with a potential move away from north London for the majority of the year now with La Liga side, Valencia, previously linked.
Although some of these Spurs fans would welcome the departure of Winks, it is clear they have been left baffled by the claim suggesting the club were holding out for such a big figure.
