Plenty of Sunderland fans have been loving the footage that their club shared online after Dan Neil grabbed his first goal for the club.  

The Black Cats hosted Accrington Stanley in League One over the weekend and goals from the young English midfielder and Carl Winchester helped the home side come away with a 2-1 victory.

In the 15th minute of the game, Neil received the ball from about 25 yards out. He chopped it back onto his left foot, which afforded him the space to fire a shot a goal. The superb effort flew into the back of the net, giving his team the first strike of the game.

The official Sunderland Twitter account shared footage of the moment on their page and it soon attracted a number of comments from their supporters.

Having represented the Black Cats at youth level, the club’s fans will surely be loving the impact the former academy man is now having on the senior team.

The goal caps of an excellent start to the season for the 19-year-old, who has already featured eight times this season – claiming three assists, to go alongside his first strike for the club.

The win leaves Sunderland top of the table after six matches as they endeavour to be promoted back up into the Championship.
