Lots of Sunderland fans have flooded to a recent tweet from the club to share their delight at an image to emerge showing one of their players to have returned from injury.

On Thursday, the club released an image of their Kosovan defender, Arbenit Xhemajli, back in first-team training following his lengthy absence.

Can Xhemajli be a starter at SAFC?

The 23-year-old has been out of action for more than a year after sustaining a knee ligament injury while on international duty for Kosovo.

Sunderland fans flocked to the tweet from the club to share their delight in seeing the centre-back having returned to training with Lee Johnson’s squad.

What exactly did these Sunderland fans have to say?

“I honestly keep forgetting he is here. Looking forward to finally seeing him turn out for us.”

“our king is nearing his return”
“Love to see it”
“League One ain’t ready”
“Kosovan King”
“What a man”

The Black Cats signed the defender last summer from Swiss side Neuchatel Xamax, however as a result of his injury Xhemajli has only made one appearance for the Black Cats (via Transfermarkt).

Despite having only seen the Kosovan play against Aston Villa’s U23s side, it is clear to see these Sunderland fans are delighted to see the centre-back make his return from injury, and hopefully he’ll be able to repay their faith when he gets back to playing.
