Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Charlie Eccleshare has been speaking on the latest edition of The View From The Lane podcast ahead of their London derby against Chelsea.

One of the major talking points ahead of the game on Sunday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been Nuno Espirito Santo’s long list of injured players.

Would you start Dier if he is fit for Sunday?

Spurs were without some of their attacking powerhouses in Heung-min Son and Steven Bergwijn last weekend, however, they were dealt a defensive blow with Eric Dier picking up an injury early on in the game at Selhurst Park.

The Englishman picked up a knock after a coming together with Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew and he did not feature in Thursday’s Europa Conference League game.

Discussing the latest on Tottenham’s injury crisis, Eccleshare had the following to say when asked about whether he believes Dier will be fit enough for the Chelsea game:

“He should be. I mean it’s not been confirmed but sounds reasonably positive on that one, so he could well be available.”

How many points did Tottenham gain in the following seasons? First up: 2020/21

Going into the summer transfer market, it was reported the Tottenham hierarchy were looking to bring in two new centre-backs to address their defensive issues.

However, Cristian Romero was the only centre-back to walk through the door this summer at Spurs and he is still yet to start for the Lilywhites in the Premier League.

In his absence, Dier has started all of Tottenham’s league games and his performances at the back earned him a place as one of the nominees for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award.

Although Dier did not win the award, the nomination indicates the bright start to the season he has made with Spurs still to concede in the league with him on the pitch (via Transfermarkt).
