Sunderland fans have been reacting to news surrounding Lee Johnson following the team’s start to the season.
The Black Cats have certainly made an excellent start to the campaign, winning four of their five games in League One and finding themselves on top of the table with a game in hand over the team in second – although it’s probably a little too early in the season to be talking about games in hand and there’s still a long way to go.
Nevertheless, as a result of that fantastic start, it was no surprise to see Johnson pick up the League One Manager of the Month award for August.
The news was relayed to fans on Twitter for them to react to, where it didn’t seem to go down too well with a number of them, as they felt that the club might now fall victim to the dreaded Manager of the Month ‘curse’:
“Nailed on defeat tomorrow then #thecurse”
Will Sunderland return to the Championship this season?
Yes
No
Being nicknamed the Black Cats, you’d think they’d be used to curses at this point, but with a game against Accrington Stanley tomorrow, it will certainly put the curse theory to the test.
