Sunderland fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest post to emerge from Black Cats right-back Niall Huggins.

This comes after Huggins, who started his first League One match for Lee Johnson’s side in their recent 5-0 thrashing of Cheltenham Town in midweek, shared a post on his Twitter page expressing his joy at having made his full league debut after coming on as a substitute during Sunderland’s 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers.

Huggins also added a picture of himself in action against Cheltenham in his post.

This post from the defender then caught the attention of a lot of Sunderland supporters who were not shy in sharing their messages to Huggins.

So, what did these Sunderland fans have to say in response to Huggins’ post after the Cheltenham match?

“Some player this lad”

@leech_tom

“Really enjoyed his performance. So sharp”

@PR_1879

“Unreal mate keep it going and take us up the leagues with you.”

“Looked a class above last night”

@justpassing73

“MoM for me, absolutely brilliant and great to watch”

Looking at the replies to this post from Huggins, it’s clear to see that these Sunderland fans were delighted with what they saw from the defender in his first full league match for the club since signing from Leeds United’s U23 side for an undisclosed fee back in August.

Given how the Sunderland Echo gave the 20-year-old an overall match rating of 8/10 for his performance against Cheltenham saying that he “took his chance to impress”, this shows just why these fans on Twitter were so happy with him.
