Sheffield Wednesday fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest claim to emerge concerning the possibility of two current Owls players signing new contracts at the Yorkshire club.

This comes after Wednesday journalist Joe Crann shared a post on his official Twitter page relaying comments made by Owls manager Darren Moore saying that “one or two” players are in talks to sign new deals at the club.

In the caption to his post, Crann said that one of the players in talks for a new deal is “definitely” Callum Paterson, while the other is “probably” Liam Palmer.

This post then caught the attention of a number of Wednesday supporters who were quick to share their thoughts on the matter.

So, what did these Wednesday fans have to say in response to this claim?

“No! These two should be let go”

@DutchMcLovin

“Madness”

@JosephO__

“Wouldn’t be a good move at this time ….neither showing anywhere near the form necessary to open extention talks …..they should be absolute stand outs in this league and they’re nowhere near”

@howeboo

“Both not good enough”

@Roemeister86

“Nice guy is Darren. Palmer don’t mind so much, patto is what 4th choice striker now? What does he bring to this team? Looks like he is running in concrete….. should have been moved on in the summer.”

@robbiebebbie

“Palmer’s new contact must be based on him being a nice guy cannot for the life of me see any other reason for it”

@No_Gimicks

Looking at the replies to this post from Crann, it seems as though this group of Wednesday fans don’t think either Paterson or Palmer are deserving of having their contracts extended at the club.

Do you think Paterson and Palmer deserve new contracts at Wednesday?

Yes

Yes

No

No

In terms of Paterson, the fact that he has yet to register a goal or assist for Wednesday in League One so far this season, it’s easy to see why these fans wouldn’t want to see him sign a new deal at the club, despite it still being early in the season.

Moving forward, it will be interesting to see just which players who have their current contracts at Wednesday set to expire next summer end up signing new ones before then.
