Former Rangers star Graham Roberts insists he is quite happy Cameron Carter-Vickers has moved to Celtic, because he just doesn’t rate the defender.
Roberts, of course, played for both Tottenham Hotspur and the Gers, and is uniquely positioned to offer a view on Carter-Vickers, as he has been on the books at Spurs since 2009.
He has made just five senior appearances for the club, though, and has gone on a variety of loan spells throughout his career.
Is Carter-Vickers done at Spurs?
Yes, it is time to move on
No, deserves another chance
Carter-Vickers went to Sheffield United on loan in the 2017/18 season, and also played for Ipswich Town, Swansea City, Stoke City, Luton Town and AFC Bournemouth on short-term deals.
Celtic have now snapped him up, taking him north of the border, and Roberts was asked by This Is Futbol for his opinion on Carter-Vickers earning a move to such a huge club.
And he insists that he is delighted that the Scottish club have decided to take him, due to his lack of form at Spurs.
He said: “I’m quite pleased. To be honest, for me, I think it’s a good move for him but in a different way that other people will.
“He went to Bournemouth, he was okay, he’s been around a few clubs, I think he just needs to be sold and start a career where he can move on and he might prove me wrong at Celtic, I don’t know. But I was delighted when he went.”
