Celtic fans have been reacting to the news that Ryan Christie has left the club as part of the deadline day deals.

It’s been a summer of change at Celtic Park with the club going through a major rebuild both on and off the pitch. And with the club having made a rather large number of signings, there were inevitably going to have to be a couple of players that would need to leave the club in order to balance the books.

And Christie is one of those players that has left the club as he has made the move to English Championship side Bournemouth. He leaves the club having made 151 appearances, during which time he scored 41 goals and chipped in with 44 assists and lifting a number of trophies as part of the Celtic dynasty of the 2010s.

However, despite all of those achievements, it seems as though there were a number of fans who were quite happy to see him leave the club, and they made their views known when the club announced his exit on Twitter, with some seeing the move to Scott Parker’s side as a step down:

“Massive step down but if that’s what he wanted then fair enough.”

“Should’ve been sold this time last year, after he told the club he wasn’t signing a new deal. Enjoy the Championship – a massive step down from our club”
“Chased the money. Poor show could have been brilliant with Ange”
“I’m usually one for wishing players well when they move on, but this guy is just a money-grabber, total embarrassment that a player would move to a Championship club rather than stay at Celtic. All about the pay cheque.”
“Glad to see the back of him. No matter who you are, if you want to be elsewhere then don’t let the door hit you on the way out. He obviously watched too many YouTube highlights of himself. He’ll be at St Johnstone within five years”
“That came out of nowhere”

With the goals and assists that have walked out the door with Christie, it will be interesting to see if these fans will still be happy to have seen him leave if Celtic don’t manage to perform well this season. Who knows, they may end up missing him.
