Many Celtic fans have flocked to Twitter after the club accounted captain Callum McGregor had signed a new contract. 

The 28-year-old signed a new huge five-year extension with the Bhoys which will keep him tied to the club until 2026.

Having joined the club at the age of eight, McGregor has now made 338 appearances for Celtic and, of course, wears the captain’s armband.

The Scottish side’s official Twitter page shared the news on their feed and soon drew some extremely delighted responses.

There’s little doubting just how delighted these Celtic fans are to see that their captain is committed to the club. Though their next wish will likely be regarding his fitness.

Indeed, the Scotland international has missed a number of games of late due to injury, including the club’s most recent Scottish League Cup win over Raith Rovers.

2020-21

As the Bhoys already have plenty of ground to make up – being four points off the top of the table – if they want to push for the league title this season, they’ll surely need their captain back as soon as possible. For now, at least, the club’s supporters can relax knowing that his long-term future is with their side.
