Marcus Bent was not surprised to see his former boss David Moyes lead West Ham United into European football thanks to a season to remember.

The Hammers will get their Europa League campaign underway this month after qualifying for the competition thanks to registering a club-record Premier League points tally last term.

Moyes is currently enjoying his second spell in charge of the Hammers, having returned to the London Stadium as Manuel Pellegrini’s successor in December 2019.

The Scotsman’s appointment did not meet the approval of a large number of West Ham fans, with many disappointed to see the club’s owners go back for a former boss.

However, Moyes has silenced his critics thanks to shrewd business in the transfer market and guiding the east Londoners to sixth place in the Premier League standings last term.

The Hammers are looking to build on an impressive campaign and Bent, who played for Moyes at Everton, believes the club are in safe hands despite his original doubters.
