Michail Antonio can play anywhere for West Ham because of his pace, according to former professional player Carlton Palmer.

The 31-year-old got ten goals last season for the Hammers and helped them to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League and with that, the club qualified for this season’s Europa League.

In their first Europa League Group H match against Dinamo Zagreb, the Hammers ran out 2-0 winners with Antonio getting on the scoresheet in Croatia.

Overall, it has been a strong start to the campaign for Antonio, with Gary Neville recently describing him and rest of West Ham’s attack as “electric”.

And Palmer believes that Antonio can play anywhere on the football pitch because of his pace, telling This is Futbol: “I think he can play anywhere. When you’ve got pace, you can play anywhere on the football pitch up top because all you’ve got to do is get half-a-yard. And if he’s on the last man’s shoulder, anything played over the top, you’re not going to catch him and if you catch him, you’re off.”

Throughout his career, Antonio has shown his versatility as he has featured in many positions on the football pitch, playing in defence as a full-back, further forward as both a right and left sided midfielder and as a winger, a centre forward and also as an attacking midfielder.

After last season’s successful Premier League campaign, David Moyes added to his squad this summer to help West Ham compete on all fronts.

The Hammers boss brought in Alphonse Areola, Nikola Vlasic, Kurt Zouma and Alex Kral for the first-team and he will be hoping that the squad gels and West Ham have another good season this campaign.
