West Ham United insider @ExWHUemployee has been sharing his thoughts on Hammers attacker Mipo Odubeko and some insight about the player.

This comes after Ex co-hosted a recent episode of The West Ham Way Podcast where he spoke about a variety of topics concerning David Moyes’ side.

Who scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Leeds United at Anfield in September?

On the subject of the club’s recent transfer activity during the previous summer window, Ex had this to say about Odubeko, in particular, who joined Championship club Huddersfield Town on a loan deal until the end of the season after signing a new deal with the Hammers until 2023.

He said: “I’m pleased Odubeko’s gone on loan.

“I know that sounds weird considering I said we’ve got no strikers, but I feel the jury’s still out on him.

“Now, most West Ham fans rave about him and say what an amazing finisher he is, and he will score [a lot] of goals, but my sources that watch him every day at the training ground and watch him beyond joining for West Ham and things like that, say to me he’s not that good.”

TIF Thoughts on Ex’s comments on Odubeko…

Taking into account what Ex had to say about Odubeko, it seems as though a loan move to the Championship could be an ideal next step for him if Ex’s sources are correct in saying that the player has some room for improvement in his game.

Do you think Mipo Odubeko will have a big future at West Ham?

Yes

Yes

No

No

In our view, given how West Ham made the decision to offer Odubeko a new contract before sending him off to Huddersfield on loan, this says to us that they see something in him that he could perhaps become an important or useful player for them in the future, with the hope that this loan move can help him improve and develop.

Moving forward, with the 18-year-old managing to score 10 goals in nine league appearances for West Ham’s U23 side last season, if he can replicate this goalscoring form whilst on loan at Huddersfield, this would definitely put him in a good place to potentially break into West Ham’s senior team next season.
