Some Tottenham Hotspur fans vented their rage on Twitter as they shared their frustrations towards Cristian Romero’s Carabao Cup display.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side progressed to the fourth round of the competition after their penalty-shootout victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday.
Do you like what you've seen from Romero so far?
Yes
No
However, it seems not all of the fans were impressed by the display from their new centre-back, Cristian Romero, who was making his second consecutive start for the Lilywhites after his extended international break.
Spurs have brought in the 23-year-old on an initial loan deal from Atalanta, but the 2020/21 Serie A Defender of the Year was unable to prevent Wolves from equalising on the hour mark at Molineux.
And fans flocked to Twitter to share their concerns about the club’s summer signing as Spurs blew their two-goal advantage to see Bruno Lage’s side take them to the shootout.
What exactly did these Spurs fans have to say?
“Romero is just another Ricardo Rocha, nothing special whatsoever. Doesn’t have the physicality for the Premier League.”
“That was so poor from Romero for that goal. He’s been awful tonight”
Tottenham won the shootout and following the game they were drawn for an away trip to Burnley in the next round of the cup as they look to go one step further than last season’s runners-up medal.
With the Lilywhites now having conceded 10 goals in their last four games, it seems confidence among the fans is wearing thin and Romero’s display did not help that on Wednesday night.

Tottenham do at last have a quality centre back. Anyone named top defender in Italy who is also an Argentina international is clearly of a very high standard. These comments are from idiots who know nothing about football. Footballers can take a whole season in some cases before they show exactly what they are made of especially when they come to England which is the fastest and most physical league in the world. Bergkamp and Modric both took some considerable time to get acclimatised – I wonder what happened to them? Romero has now started 2 (yes that’s 2 games not 2 seasons) domestic games and is being written off and you are conducting a poll. Frightening and pathetic in equal measures
