A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted with excitement after academy prospect Dilan Markanday was shortlisted for August’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.

The 20-year-old scored four goals in three games for his side in the first month of the new Premier League 2 season, including a hat-trick against Leeds United.

His exploits clearly did not go unnoticed, with the official Tottenham Twitter page announcing the news on Twitter. The post soon drew comment from a collection of the club’s supporters.

Here’s what these Spurs fans said…

“MY STARBOY.”

“OMDS HE’S SO GOOD.”

“Better than Bergwijn stop playing Bolasie man”
“Give him some first-team appearances.”
“Yaaaaas! Let him win the lot.”
“Ballerrrr.”
“He might be the GOAT.”

The youngster’s impressive form at youth level – which included two assists Spurs U23’s Papa John’s Trophy victory over Stevenage – has seen Markanday’s reputation grow even greater in recent weeks.

He was even named on the bench for the first team in the second leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League play-off against Pacos de Ferreira towards the end of August.

No doubt, Markanday will hope to win the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award, but it’s more than likely his stronger ambition is to feature for the club’s senior side as often as possible this season.
