A lot of Tottenham Hotspur fans have flocked to the latest piece of transfer speculation to emerge on Twitter regarding the north London club.

According to reports in Spain, Fabio Paratici is already looking to bolster Tottenham’s options at striker, with Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins one of the names believed to be on his list.

Would Watkins leave Villa for Spurs?

Spurs brought in five new faces during the summer, however, not one of those players was a recognised striker.

Among Tottenham’s departures were loanees Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius, who provided the club with 26 goals between them across all competitions last term.

Although the Lilywhites have only scored one goal in their last three Premier League games, it seems a lot of these fans see the latest claim as a PR boost from the club following a poor run of results.

What did these Spurs fans have to say?

“If only there was a summer window where transfers could happen before the season started”

The cycle starts again linked with top player get fans onside drag it out until the end of the mess it up then sign some up-and-coming YouTube player who can’t get in the first time, loan out multiple times then struggle to sell for what we got him for #LevyOut
“Yeah the PR agency is doing its job. Levy and Paratici masterclass.”
“Could have got him when he was at Brentford! No chance now. Next!!”
“Paratici should be sacked with Nuno.”
“We enquire, they say probably something north of £50m, we concede. Doesn’t take a genius to see that this isn’t happening.”

Harry Kane has made a horrendous start to the new campaign by his standards, with his only three goals coming in the Carabao and the Europa Conference League qualifiers (via Transfermarkt).

Tottenham face Aston Villa on the weekend in north London, but it seems apparent these Spurs fans do not expect to see Watkins playing for their side permanently anytime soon.
