A lot of Tottenham Hotspur’s fans have flocked to a tweet relaying a transfer claim to emerge regarding the north London club.
According to Marca, Spurs approached Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio during this summer’s transfer window and were willing to give the Spaniard ‘star treatment’.
Would Asensio be a good buy for Spurs?
However, the report also states the 25-year-old was not keen on the proposal to join the Premier League side and rejected the proposed move.
The midfielder has only played 68 minutes of La Liga football under Carlo Ancelotti this season and was an unused substitute in their dramatic weekend win over Valencia (via Transfermarkt).
Spurs fans flooded to a tweet from Hotspur Related relaying the claim emerging out of Spain as they shared their frustrations with the Tottenham hierarchy.
What exactly did these Spurs fans have to say?
“I am Paratici out after seeing this, what was he thinking before approaching him, he is finished”
“And now he’s begging to leave since he’s not getting any game time”
“Our scouting and recruitment department is an absolute disgrace”
“Naah man Paratici needs to be checked”
“He’s not that good anyway, watched him in the Olympics. Very, very average.”
“One biggest flops in recent years, but Don Paratici thinks he’s a superstar.”
Asensio has reportedly threatened to leave the Spanish giants having suffered a lack of game time since the arrival of the former Everton manager over the summer.
Although some believe Spurs are desperate for a creative midfielder, it seems these fans were glad to see the Spaniard reject the proposal, with some even questioning Fabio Paratici’s judgement.
