Image for Tottenham Hotspur: Fans flock as Steven Bergwijn image emerges

A lot of concerned Tottenham Hotspur fans have flooded to an image surfacing on Twitter which was uploaded to social media by Steven Bergwijn.

The Dutchman made his Spurs comeback on Thursday evening against Stade Rennais after suffering an ankle injury whilst playing for the Netherlands.

Have you been impressed by Bergwijn this season?

No

However, his comeback only lasted half an hour as he suffered another injury to the same ankle he injured whilst on international duty.

On Monday afternoon, the 23-year-old posted an image on social media showing his left leg in a protective boot following the injury setback he suffered out in France.

Tottenham fans flocked to a tweet from The Spurs Web relaying the image as they shared their frustration with the winger looking set for some time on the sidelines.

What exactly did these Spurs fans have to say?

“Season over”

“Every season this happens”
“Yeah not good..”
“We need you back bro”
“Get better quickly Bergwijn. We need you!!”
“Knowing our medical team that’s him done for the year”
“Pain. Pure pain.”
“This is bad”

Bergwijn had made an impressive start to the new campaign, which saw him feature in Tottenham’s opening three Premier League games and record an assist in their victory against Manchester City (via Transfermarkt).

With no goals in their previous two Premier League games, it is apparent this image has not boosted the hopes of these fans, who are clearly frustrated by the latest injury setback.
