Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano highlighted Tottenham Hotspur’s long-time interest in Dusan Vlahovic.

There was a lot of talk over the summer of Spurs looking to bring in a new striker even if Harry Kane remained at the club, with Nuno Espirito Santo wanting another forward to accompany the England captain, however, despite links to Lautaro Martinez and Danny Ings, nobody came in to improve the striker department.

Who is a better striker?

Kane!

Kane!

Vlahovic!

Vlahovic!

Now, Romano has revealed that Spurs did, in fact, look at the £36m-rated Fiorentina striker over the summer, and he would have certainly arrived with a pedigree, having netted 21 goals last season in Serie A for a Fiorentina side that finished in a lowly 13th place, and has started brightly this term with six goals already.

Romano has delivered some news on Spurs interest in Vlahovic.

“Tottenham were also interested in Dusan Vlahovic and keep an eye on Tottenham also for the future, because they’re watching this guy [for] a long time and they really like him.

“If he will not sign the contract – and so no clause included in the agreement – the player will be out of contract in June 2023. So it means that next summer, Fiorentina will have to sell him or they will face the risk of losing him as a free agent.

“So this is why Dusan Vlahovic is one of the names to keep an eye on for the summer, I want to mention English clubs as we say Tottenham, but also Man City are scouting him for a long time.”

TIF Thoughts on Vlahovic…

Nuno’s plan to bring in another striker would have helped out greatly right now, with Tottenham struggling in the final third as well as all over the pitch recently, with his side having only scored once in their previous three league matches.

Spurs have had quite a few odd players over the years, but can you remember them? Here is the first one, who is this former Tottenham man?

Also, having another top-quality striker may have been what’s required to push Kane on, who is clearly struggling this season to replicate his form of previous campaigns, as the striker is still yet to get off the mark in the Premier League and also experienced a rather dismal performance for Spurs against Crystal Palace, when he failed to register a touch in the opposition’s box.
