Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold has been speaking on his latest YouTube video to discuss all things relating to the Lilywhites.

One of the main talking points for the Spurs journalist was the performances of Harry Kane following his return to the squad after a summer of transfer speculation.

Do you want Kane to sign a new deal?

The England captain has now made four appearances from the opening five games for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in the Premier League, but last season’s Golden Boot winner is yet to open his account for the current campaign (via Transfermarkt).

Kane has received some criticism in the early stages of the season, however, speaking on the 28-year-old’s displays, Gold had the following to say on the player’s mindset at the Lilywhites.

“His people tell me he’s going to be here for this season at the very least. It’s not like there’s a, ‘I’m just going to rock on until January and get out of here’. It’s not that at all.

“He is focused back on Tottenham. I think it’s fitness. I don’t think he was at his peak fitness level last season and I think he’s now got to get back there.

“Because the best Harry Kane is the hustling, bustling Harry Kane. He came deep a little bit [against Chelsea] with Son [Heung-min] going on, but I just didn’t feel fitness-wise, he had enough about him to still drive past players and do what he does.”

TIF Thoughts on Kane’s start to the season…

It has certainly been an uncharacteristic start to the campaign for Kane considering after the opening five games of last season, he had five goals and seven assists to his name (via Transfermarkt).

His performances so far have seen the England captain receive a lot of criticism, with some pundits questioning what he is actually offering to the Spurs side.

Spurs have a tough week ahead of them with a trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers followed up by the north London derby against Arsenal.

Although Kane has a fantastic record against the Gunners, we feel it would be beneficial if the striker could go into the game with a confidence booster in midweek at Molineux.
