Former Tottenham Hotspur player Graham Roberts believes that Pape Matar Sarr might be better than what the club currently have.

Tottenham completed a deal to sign Sarr from Metz over the summer, with the Senegalese international remaining in France with the Ligue 1 outfit for the 2021/2022 season.

Roberts has questioned Spurs loaning Sarr back to Metz for the season, telling This is Futbol: “Why did we buy somebody and loan him back? He might be better than what we’ve got.”

Should Spurs have kept Sarr at the club?

Spurs had a terrific start to the new Premier League season, as they won their opening three matches and also kept three clean sheets, but in the following two matches against Crystal Palace and Chelsea they lost 3-0 on both occasions.

It was a busy summer at Tottenham Hotspur as the club appointed Nuno Espirito Santo as their new manager and alongside Sarr, the club brought in four other new players, as Cristian Romero, Pierluigi Gollini, Bryan Gil and Emerson Royal all arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

With a new manager and new players in place, Tottenham will be hoping to push up the table and improve on last season’s seventh place Premier League finish.
