A whole host of Newcastle United fans are furious on Twitter with Luke Edwards’ latest takeover claim.
Mike Ashley is currently set for two separate legal battles against the Premier League over the coming months to try and get the previously collapsed takeover of Newcastle, which was being led by Amanda Staveley, pushed through.
Will Newcastle have new owners next season?
Yes!
No!
This week is when Newcastle fans may get some sort of news of where their club stands in terms of the likelihood of getting closer to beating the Premier League in court, but with both parties merely awaiting to hear whether or not the anti-competition claim will go ahead, Edwards has attempted to pour cold water on the idea that this is indeed a big week for Newcastle.
A lot of Newcastle fans are furious on Twitter with Edwards’ latest takeover claim.
What have these Newcastle fans been saying?
“If the Premier League appeal the decision it’s an utter disgrace after the delaying tactics they have already had us subject to.”
“The point is why do they keep appealing and delaying. This is something regardless of being kicked further down the road even if buyers walk. The supporters will never ever be silenced. Might as well get it sorted now. Where’s EPL legal finance coming to prolong the case? #nufc“
“There won’t be an appeal in competition law. No judge worth his salt would allow that to happen. Do your research mate and speak to a competition solicitor #nufc“
With so much still to come in terms of Newcastle’s potential takeover, which has been rumbling on for well over 12 months, this may have been a reason as to why Ashley failed to sanction more than one senior signing in the summer.
The Newcastle fans will be desperate, not just for this takeover to go through, but for any form of takeover to happen, as Ashley’s tenure has failed to bring about many positives.
The club’s highest finish is fifth, and other than that, it’s been filled with relegations, while even at one point, a court case heard that the club were ‘repeatedly and intentionally misleading the press, public and the fans of Newcastle United‘.
