Newcastle United fans have been reacting to an image that has emerged of Ryan Fraser whilst away on international duty.

The 27-year-old has had something of a bad time at Newcastle ever since he joined them in the summer of 2020, picking up just one goal during his 26 appearances at the club during a time that has also been hampered by injuries.

Newcastle PL appearances quiz! This man is the all-time top Premier League appearance maker for Newcastle, but how many did he make?

And it appears as though those injury problems could be about to repeat themselves. Ahead of their clash with Austria, Scotland manager Steve Clarke revealed this afternoon that he had withdrawn from the squad with an injury problem, however, didn’t go into much detail on it and described it as ‘a knock’.

Despite this, a photo has emerged from TalkSport that shows Fraser leaving the team hotel on crutches and with his foot in a boot.

It’s never a good sign to see a player in something like that, and it led to a number of rather angry Newcastle fans when they saw it, with many of them seeming to focus their anger on the club for their lack of business in the transfer window, which could leave them rather short of players moving forward:

“Wilson and Fraser both out for MONTHS. Magical. Superb planning from @NUFC. How long until the Transfer Window opens? #NUFC #BRUCEOUT #ASHLEYOUT

“Good job we’ve got loads of cover”
“For pity’s sake”
“At least there’s loads of backup options and a statement released defending the transfer policy this summer… #nufc
“Good job we don’t need strengthening at all eh and the squad is full #NUFC
“You couldn’t make it up.”
“Surely he’s played more minutes for Scotland than us since we signed him!! Ashley will be after compo no doubt Shocking signing”

Has Fraser been a good signing for Newcastle?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Hopefully the boot is just a precaution rather than an indicator of anything more serious, or it could really leave Toon boss Steve Bruce with selection problems in the weeks to come.
