Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest post to emerge concerning Toon youngster Dylan Stephenson.
This comes after the official Newcastle Twitter account shared a post on its page revealing that Stephenson has now scored six goals in the six league games he’s played for Newcastle’s U23 side after scoring in their recent 3-1 defeat against Fulham.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Toon supporters who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on the player and his recent goalscoring streak.
So, what did these Newcastle fans have to say in response to this post about Stephenson?
“Play him instead of Gayle”
“The boy’s on fire, start him tomorrow”
“Get him in the first team”
“Promote him to the 1st team?”
“Would rather see him and Anderson play against Watford over Gayle and Almiron tbh”
“Stephenson for the first team”
Looking at the replies to this post, it’s clear to see that these Newcastle fans think the 18-year-old striker is capable of playing in Steve Bruce’s side rather than the U23s.
In our view, with regular senior striker Callum Wilson out with an injury, we feel that it could be worth a shot giving Stephenson a chance to see if he can perform in Newcastle’s first team at some point in the future.
Would you like to see Dylan Stephenson play in Newcastle's first team?
Especially since Bruce doesn’t seem to want to give senior Toon striker Dwight Gayle a chance to play in the Premier League this season, perhaps a younger and in-form prospect would provide the Toon with a more potent threat in front of goal.
