A number of Newcastle United fans have expressed their dismay online after the club announced Tom Allan would be leaving the club on loan.

The 21-year-old signed for Greenock Morton on a season-long loan, following his teammate Oisin McEntee, who also signed for the Scottish Championship side over the summer.

It will be the second season in a row the youngster will leave the Magpies, having spent the first part of last season with Accrington Stanley.

Newcastle’s official Twitter page announced the news and it drew a firm response from a fair section of the club’s fanbase.

Here’s what these Newcastle fans said…

“That’s it. I’m done. What a joke of a club. No more. I’ll see you when Ashley’s gone.”

“Tinpot club.”
“We are laughable.”

Allan has played once so far for the Magpies’ first team, assisting Joeli0nton in 2020 on his debut in the FA Cup against Rochdale.

He was also involved with Steve Bruce’s senior squad in pre-season and played for 80 minutes of United’s Papa John’s Trophy tie against Sheffield Wednesday earlier on in August.

The Newcastle fans’ frustration seems to be due to the fact that so many players have been allowed to leave over the summer when so few have arrived at the club. Indeed, Joe Willock is the only player the side has spent any money on throughout the entire summer window.
