Some Newcastle United fans have flocked to a tweet from the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope on the latest in the Toon’s search for their new U23s manager.

According to the journalist, the trial period for Newcastle’s U23s coach is underway, and one of the people under consideration is the former Magpie, Shefki Kuqi.

Would this Kuqi a good appointment for the Toon?

Gary Caldwell was appointed to the role of the U23s’ lead development coach after Chris Hogg departed the Tyneside club to become the assistant manager at League One club MK Dons in August.

Fans flocked to the tweet from the journalist to share their thoughts on the claim Kuqi is in the running to become the club’s next U23s coach.

What did these Toon fans have to say?

“Am I being pranked here”

“Just when I thought this club had nothing left to give”

Wow.”

“We’re an absolute shambles.”
“Peak NUFC.”
“Just when you think NUFC Twitter couldn’t get any worse.”
“Are we in a parallel universe?”
“Incredible”

The Finnish forward only made six appearances for the Toon but failed to find the back of the net during that time, which came in the 2010/11 season (via Transfermarkt).

Newcastle’s U23s side currently sit in ninth spot of the Premier League 2 Division 2 table, however, it seems these fans would not welcome the arrival of Kuqi to replace the interim coach, Caldwell.
