Football journalist Dean Jones has been sharing his thoughts on the possibility of Manchester City potentially making a move to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham at some point in the future.

This comes after Jones made an appearance on a recent edition of Touchline Talk where he spoke about a number of topics concerning a range of football clubs across Europe.

Who scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Leeds United at Anfield in September?

During the show, Jones was asked about Bellingham’s development at Dortmund and whether or not Pep Guardiola’s side could be persuaded to try and sign the midfielder. In response, Jones had this to say on the matter (18:53):

“I think it’s definitely feasible.

“I think that the most interesting thing about how this all opens up is that Man United, Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool are all going to be looking towards that central-midfield position and they are all going to want to improve there, and what it’s going to come down to ultimately is they’re all going to want Jude Bellingham, they’re all going to be interested in Declan Rice, they can’t all have these players.

“Four clubs there all basically going after a similar type of player and Bellingham and Rice both fit the bill, they’re both rated at £100m right now. Who’s going to buy them?

“I mean, Man City, you know they’ve got the money, so you’ve got to put them as one of the favourites to sign him.”

TIF Thoughts on Dean Jones’ comments on a potential future move for Bellingham…

Since joining the German club from Birmingham City back in the 2020 summer transfer window, the 18-year-old has gone on to make 53 appearances for Dortmund across all competitions in which he has managed to score six goals and provide eight assists along the way, with his latest goal and assists both coming in their recent 2-1 win over Besiktas in the Champions League.

Would you like to see Man City try and sign Bellingham?

No

In regards to a potential move to Manchester City, with Fernandinho’s current contract at the club set to expire next summer and the fact that Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne are both 30-years-old, in our view, perhaps the club could see Bellingham as a long-term midfield option.

Also, in terms of City having the money to firmly put them in the frame to be able to sign Bellingham if they want to, the fact that they signed Jack Grealish for £100 million in the biggest deal in British football history during the previous summer transfer window, it’s easy to see why Jones thinks City could well be an option for Bellingham in the future.
