Speaking exclusively to This Is Futbol, former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer believes Manchester City have already wrapped up a deal for Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland ahead of the January transfer window.

City were in the market for a new striker during the summer transfer window, with Tottenham’s Harry Kane their priority.

However, the Premier League champions failed to sign the 28-year-old in the end and could now be forced to turn elsewhere.

Will Man City sign Haaland in January?

No

And Palmer thinks they already have, suggesting that Haaland could be on his way to the Etihad.

“I think they’ll have probably already wrapped that deal up myself for the January transfer window,” the ex-Leeds United player told TIF. “I’d be surprised if the Haaland deal’s not done.

“Knowing that he’s going to be available at the end of the season, they might even give 100 million for Haaland so Dortmund get an extra £40m to let him out at Christmas.”

Haaland leaving Dortmund and joining a team like City at the start of the new year does not sound far-fetched.

The Bundesliga outfit will obviously want to keep hold of him to secure Champions League qualification for next season. But with that €75m (around £64m) release clause set to kick in, perhaps they could be tempted to cash in in January to make as much money as they can.
