Former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer has told This Is Futbol that he expects Manchester City to revisit their interest in Tottenham striker Harry Kane in the future.

Kane was subject of heavy interest from City in the last transfer window, with manager Pep Guardiola confirming that the club tried to sign him as they looked to replace Sergio Aguero.

It was to no avail, though, as Tottenham and chairman Daniel Levy held firm, forcing the Premier League champions to make do with the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Ferran Torres – hardly terrible options.

Will City go back in for Kane?

Palmer, however, does not think this is the end of it and would not be surprised to see City make another attempt.

“Man City didn’t meet the asking price for him, so that’s as simple as it is,” the ex-Leeds United player said.

“I’m sure Harry’s disappointed in the situation, but he’s conducted himself as a professional, as he should do. He’s the captain of England, he signed a contract and he’s got to honour that.

“I think Man City will revisit that, but now he’s just got to get on and play his football.”

In terms of alternatives to the £108m-rated forward, it would not be a surprise to see City turn to Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland if a deal continues to prove difficult to do.

As per multiple reports, including from The Athletic, the Norway international has a €75m (£64m) release clause that kicks in next year.
