Former Premier League striker Nigel Jemson insists that Divock Origi should have demanded an exit from Liverpool in the summer transfer window instead of deciding to stay at the Reds.

The striker did not seal an exit from the club in the summer, despite a limited number of minutes at Anfield.

Origi has yet to play a single minute of Premier League football this season and made just nine appearances in the top-flight last term.

He made just two starts in that time, and failed to complete the 90 minutes even once.

Origi was linked with a potential exit from the club in the summer, particularly with a potential move to Turkey.

However, he remains on the books at Anfield and Jemson just doesn’t think he is likely to play all that regularly under Jurgen Klopp this term.

Speaking exclusively to This Is Futbol, he said: “I just find it really strange. I think if I’d have been Origi, I’d have demanded to go out on loan to try to get some game time or a permanent transfer. But I do have to say that when he has come on, he’s delivered.”

In total, Origi has made 157 appearances for the Reds, scoring 35 goals and registering 14 assists.
