Football journalist Conor McGilligan has slammed Stuart Dallas for his performance in Leeds United’s home loss against Liverpool.

Last week, Marcelo Bielsa’s men played host to the Reds in front of a packed Elland Road. Unfortunately, for the home support, things did not go to plan. Liverpool cruised to a fairly comfortable 3-0 win, thanks to goals from Mo Salah, Fabinho and Sadio Mane.

It seems that the performance of Dallas in particular, has attracted the ire of McGilligan as he discussed the defender on the One Leeds Fan Channel,

He said (11:51): “Stuart Dallas was appalling at the weekend, and you can say that. You know, I’ve not seen a lot of criticism for Stuart, but he was absolutely god awful.

“That doesn’t sum Stuart Dallas up as a person, a footballer and what he’s done for Leeds, but if you just base it on a review, you have to be fair, and he wasn’t good enough.”

TIF thoughts on Stuart Dallas and Leeds United…

Leeds have made a fairly uninspiring start to the new Premier League season, picking up just two points from their opening four games of the campaign.

Could Leeds get relegated this season?

The 30-year-old must take some blame for the club’s poor form having started all of those games so far. Even so, as McGilligan points out, his poor performance against Liverpool is not reflective of the quality he usually offers under Marcelo Bielsa.

The fact that he played in every single one of Leeds 38 league matches last season, and finished in the top six for Leeds in terms of tackles, interceptions, average passes per game and goals (all stats from WhoScored) proves the levels of consistency he tends to display. Dallas will no doubt be hoping to put in a much more impressive performance on Friday as his side face Newcastle United away from home.
