Journalist Joe Donnohue has suggested that Crysencio Summerville is set to make his first start for Leeds United in their next game.

Marcelo Bielsa takes his side to London tonight, as they face Fulham in the Carabao Cup. Having played Newcastle United last Friday and with a tough test coming up against West Ham United on the weekend, some of the more valuable senior players may be rested for this midweek excursion.

While discussing the players who may be involved from the start at Craven Cottage, Donnohue stated that he expects 19-year-old Summerville to be in the team from the off following his debut cameo at St. James’ Park last weekend.

The Dutchman has only previously been afforded a place on the bench by Bielsa, including in every league match this season prior to their trip to Tyneside.

Addressing the matter on a Leeds United Live Facebook video, he said: “I think we probably will see Summerville get his first start.

“I think it’d be good to get more minutes in the legs of Dan James playing in the Bielsa system.

“[Mateusz] Klich hasn’t played as much recently at the start of this season, so I think that’ll be a good opportunity to see him.”

TIF Thoughts on Crysencio Summerville and Leeds…

Senior men such as Patrick Bamford and Luke Ayling have both been ruled out of this match, so that will mean Bielsa will be forced into making some changes anyway.

Will Crysencio Summerville become a regular for Leeds this season?

Considering Summerville was trusted to come on against Newcastle when the game was level at 1-1, it seems perfectly reasonable that the teenager will be given the nod against Fulham.

Having impressed at youth level – playing 18 times, scoring eight goals and assisting a further seven for Leeds Under-23s – this cup match could be the perfect opportunity for Summerville to prove his worth in the senior team and stake a claim at more Premier League minutes.
