A lot of Leeds United fans have flocked to a tweet announcing the latest contract extension at the club for one of their young prospects.

It was confirmed on Monday the Whites had agreed on a new deal with Jack Jenkins, which will see his contractual stay at the Yorkshire club extended until 2024.

The 19-year-old has made three appearances for Leeds U23s this campaign in the Premier League 2, in which the midfielder has been able to provide two assists (via Transfermarkt).

Just weeks after Charlie Cresswell extended his stay at Elland Road, Leeds fans flocked to the tweet to share their delight at the youngster committing his future to the club, seemingly expecting the teenage prospect to follow in his footsteps and make his way into the first team.

What did these Leeds fans have to say?

“Fully deserved, as a few of you know I coached Jack at Garforth Villa as a kid so watching him progress is very pleasing”

“Goes under the radar this kid, but he’s got a great future. This kid will surprise a few when Bielsa suddenly gives him his debut trust me”
Finally a midfielder nah but delighted for him”
“Insane Dub!! Jenkins and Bate are going to go straight to the first team”
“Great news for Jack. Hopefully he will get some minutes on the pitch with the first team this season”
“Europe it is”
“Buzzing, what a player”

Jenkins has played 45 minutes for the senior side in their defeat to Crawley Town in the FA Cup last season and should be encouraged by Bielsa’s trust in the youth players recently, with Cresswell and Jamie Shackleton starting in the Premier League on Saturday.

Although Leeds have not made the best of starts in the top flight this term, it seems these fans are still satisfied with the moves the club are making off the pitch to secure the future of some of their prospects, as despite Jenkins’ fairly low profile, there appears to be plenty of optimism with regards to his potential at Elland Road.
