Leeds United journalist Beren Cross has claimed that Jack Harrison could return to the side for their next Premier League fixture.

Leeds face West Ham United this weekend, but go into the game with a host of significant injuries – notably, the likes of Diego Llorente, Robin Koch and Patrick Bamford are all out.

Will Crysencio Summerville become a regular for Leeds this season?

One other player who is also a doubt is Harrison. The 24-year-old missed the side’s last league fixture against Newcastle United and was unable to feature in the Carabao Cup win in midweek.

Still, with so many key players unavailable, Cross has suggested the midfielder may come back into the side – especially as Marcelo Bielsa could not confirm if key man Raphinha would be fit to play.

While speaking on a Leeds United Live Facebook stream, Cross explained, saying: “I think based on how Dan James did on Tuesday evening, my money would be on Dan James starting in place of Harrison. Although, of course, much depends on Raphinha.

“I think if Raphinha is out, then I think you’d probably see Harrison come back in to play on one wing and Dan James on the other, rather than play [Crysencio] Summerville again against West Ham.”

TIF Thoughts on Jack Harrison and Leeds…

Harrison joined Leeds from Manchester City on a full-time basis back in July for an undisclosed fee having spent the prior three seasons on loan at the club.

Who was Bielsa's first competitive game as Leeds manager against?

Last season, he scored eight times in 36 league appearances, evidently doing enough to prove his worth to Bielsa. He is yet to score in his four Premier League outings as a permanent Leeds player, but could get the chance to rectify that if Cross is correct about his prediction.

Leeds certainly could do with a goal or two from him this weekend as they are yet to register a win in the league so far this season and sit down in 17th place in the table as a consequence.
