A whole host of Leeds United fans are very happy on Twitter following Harvey Elliott’s comments about the tackle that injured him on Sunday.

The English midfielder was handed his third start in the Premier League this season by Jurgen Klopp and with Liverpool 2-0 up, Pascal Struijk was sent off despite appearing to win the ball and Elliott was taken to hospital with what appeared to be a serious leg injury.

However, despite the centre back picking up a red card and handed his marching orders, Elliott has taken to Instagram (via Phil Hay on Twitter) to claim that it ‘wasn’t his [Struijk] fault whatsoever! Neither was it a red card just a freak accident but these things happen in football’.

Many Leeds fans are delighted on Twitter following Elliott’s comments.

What have these Leeds fans been saying?

Elliott, who impressed during his loan spell with Blackburn Rovers last season in the Championship with seven goals and 11 assists was handed his full Premier League debut for the Reds in the first game of the season and seemed to have the trust of Klopp to perform in the first team.

Who was Bielsa's first competitive game as Leeds manager against?

It will be a massive blow for Klopp who saw Liverpool fail to replace Georginio Wijnaldum over the summer, and now Elliott will be on the sidelines for a prolonged period of time which may force him to play the likes of Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita more regularly.
