Toffee TV presenter Barry Cass has been speaking on the latest Everton News Daily YouTube video about how James Rodriguez could still leave the club.

The transfer window shut earlier this week with Rodriguez still an Everton player, despite links suggesting that he was set for a move away, while Carlo Ancelotti reportedly also wanted him since he departed for Real Madrid earlier in the summer.

Would you be sad to see James Rodriguez leave Everton this summer?

No

However, just because Rodriguez is still currently an Everton player, that doesn’t mean that he will necessarily remain at Goodison Park until January, as transfer windows in Portugal, Turkey and Russia remain open – and the club ‘will hope there is still an escape route’ for the Colombian, as per The Times.

Cass spoke about how he would be disappointed to see Rodriguez leave now the window is shut.

“Everton may still allow James Rodriguez to leave the club during the transfer window. It did shut officially, certainly in the UK and most of Europe, but the Turkish, Russian and the Portuguese markets are all still open.

“Paul Joyce, writing in his article in The Times, has said that the club may still be open to allowing James Rodriguez to go.

“I’m not sure how I feel about this one, to be honest. I think, now we can’t replace him, I would just sooner keep him and maybe reassess it in the January transfer window.

“If he is committed and can get his head down, then he can be a key player for Rafa Benitez, certainly in some games. I think I’d be a bit disappointed if Everton do allow him to go now where there’s no sign of a replacement coming in.”

TIF Thoughts on Rodriguez’s future…

Rodriguez was signed as a big marquee signing by Ancelotti last summer, however, he failed to help push Everton on and turn them into genuine European contenders as he was part of the Toffees side that finished the season in a lowly 10th place in the Premier League.

It has also been reported that Rodriguez is not in Rafa Benitez’s plans this season and it’s clear to see why, if his off-the-field attitude is anything to go by – as prior to their clash against Leeds United, the midfielder had to ask his Twitch viewers who Everton were playing earlier this month, so potentially, it could best if the Toffees moved him on.
