Former Tottenham Hotspur and Rangers star Graham Roberts believes new Crystal Palace striker Odsonne Edouard could struggle at Selhurst Park this season, despite an impressive start on his debut where he scored a brace off the substitutes’ bench against Spurs.

The striker has made the move to the Premier League from Scottish giants Celtic.

Edouard was a prolific presence north of the border, making a total of 179 appearances for the club and scoring 86 goals, while also registering 39 assists.

That is an impressive record and Palace have subsequently spent around £14m to bring him to England, in the hope that he can fire them to success under the management of Patrick Vieira. According to Sky Sports, he will be earning £70,000 a week.

Roberts has played in both the English and Scottish top-flights, and believes that Edouard may find it difficult to adjust to life in the Premier League.

Indeed, he has made the claim that three quarters of the goals he scored for Celtic were against sub-par teams, and that he will not have such a luxury at Palace.

Speaking exclusively to This Is Futbol, he said: “Edouard, okay, he’s done okay at Celtic but I would say 75% of those goals were against mediocre opposition. I think he’ll find it hard in the Premier League.”
