Former Premier League star Dean Windass insists that striker Tammy Abraham was simply not wanted by Premier League clubs ahead of his move to Roma.

The striker left Chelsea to join the Italian club in the summer transfer window for a fee of £34m.

Since his arrival, Abraham has already played three times for Jose Mourinho’s side, scoring in the 4-0 win over Salernitana and laying on two assists in the 3-1 victory over Fiorentina.

He was briefly linked with two Premier League clubs, with West Ham United and Arsenal both touted as potential options.

However, Windass does not think that Abraham will have been a target for either London side.

Abraham has had a decent record in the Premier League, scoring 26 times in 89 games.

Speaking to This Is Futbol, Windass said: “I don’t think it’s a case of the money, I think it’s a case of did anyone want Tammy Abraham?”

Abraham has signed a contract with Roma until 2026 and has also won six caps for England, scoring once at international level.
