West Bromwich Albion journalist and podcaster Adrian Goldberg has been sharing his thoughts on Baggies attacker Callum Robinson and his hope to see him in the starting XI for their upcoming Championship match against Derby County.
This comes after Goldberg co-hosted a recent episode of Baggies-themed podcast The Liquidator where he spoke about a variety of topics concerning the Midlands club.
On the subject of West Brom’s recent 1-1 draw against Millwall where Robinson came on as a substitute during the second half of the match against Gary Rowett’s side to replace Karlan Grant, Goldberg had this to say about the player and the possibility of him starting against Derby in midweek. He said: “For me, the better change [against Millwall] was Callum Robinson coming on, who had a level of footballing intelligence, quality on the ball that nobody else in an Albion shirt did, and certainly Robinson must start [against Derby].
“I would definitely start Callum Robinson. Callum Robinson must start, I’m not sure whether a place of [Grady] Diangana, I’m not sure whether in place of Grant, I’m not sure whether in place of [Matt] Phillips but he must start, he leapfrogs all of those players for me.”
TIF Thoughts on Adrian Goldberg’s comments on Robinson…
West Brom originally signed Robinson on a loan deal from fellow Championship side Sheffield United back in the 2020 January transfer window before securing him on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee in the following summer window.
Given how Robinson has managed to score three goals and provide one assist in five Championship appearances for West Brom so far this season, it’s easy to see why Goldberg would like to see the 26-year-old start their upcoming game against Derby.
Should Callum Robinson start against Derby County?
In our view, we feel that given Robinson hasn’t registered a goal or assist for West Brom in the league since their 4-0 win over Sheffield United where he managed to grab himself a goal, perhaps playing him against Derby from the start would be the best way to get him back on track in front of goal.
